Conditioning the Endurance Horse
Once you have a world class Equine Athlete you always wonder if there was something that YOU did that really help that horse to become a star. So, I am basically starting from ground ZERO with a 5 year old horse that is off the track. Now off the track can mean you are starting with a already built athlete. Just because a horse has some speed and has been raced does not mean that they could do well in endurance. What I have seen is that most of these Arabian race horses are really not even conditioned. As a matter of fact they are hardly saddle broke, they have learned to get in a trailer and run in a circle, that is about it. They take a 3 year old and run him, it is about as simple as that. In between races they just stand around with very little conditioning. Probably a little understated and varies quite a bit between trainers... but you get the drift.
My goal is to condition AMBROSE very methodically and safely, one step at a time, slice or work at a time, and build a superior athlete.
AMBROSE's blog will allow the reader to follow along step by step. Actually I am not going to share our progress but with a select few, it is mostly for my own enjoyment and see if I can accomplish the seemingly impossible.

Well this is not where I thought this blog was going, but in fact I am very pleased. Looks like I am starting out with a much better horse then I every anticipated. So we will see where it takes us, I am very excited about this horses potential...
