Ambrose will of been under saddle for one week. I have had him for a total of 3 weeks tomorrow. Today we loaded up both MONK and Ambrose and headed for the Spenceville Wildlife area. Lots of water, mud, cows, gates, and hills. Nancy was riding MONK and I was on Ambrose, my neighbors Mark and 12 year old Charlie met us with two of Marks mustangs.
We all headed out on the trail, Ambrose in the lead of all things. The first water crossing is a 12 foot mud slid down to a marshy area and then about 60 feet of mush until you get to the creek which is rushing quite fast, not very wide at about 5 feet and not too deep at about 10" or so... I was impressed to say the least. As soon as we exited the creek there were the COWS.. Ambrose watched them closely but that was about it.
We did about 14 miles, mostly at a walk for the first half and trotting for the second half.. More creek crossings, more logs to step over, more COWS to stare down..
Very nice day with nice company which now gives me more confidence for taking Ambrose out there by himself knowing that he can handle everything that I throw at him.
